The short version
We collect very little: an email address if you ask for the sneak peek, and your name, email and business name if you buy. We use it to send you what you asked for and to run our accounts. We don't sell it, we don't track you around the internet, and this site sets no cookies at all. You can ask us to delete you at any time and we will.
Who we are
Sidera North provides The Culture Kit and related people and culture resources. For anything in this policy, including any request about your own data, email hello@sideranorth.co.uk and a human will reply.
Sidera North is a sole trader business based in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the personal data described below, which simply means we're the ones responsible for it. The quickest way to reach us about anything on this page is email.
What we collect, and why
If you download the sneak peek. Your email address, and your first name if you give it. We use it to send you the sneak peek and, if you've said yes, occasional emails about The Culture Kit. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by replying to us.
If you buy a subscription. Your name, email address and business name, along with your subscription and payment history. We use these to deliver the kit, to personalise your files with your business name, to manage your renewal, and to answer you if you get in touch. Our lawful basis is performance of our contract with you, and for the accounting records, our legal obligations.
Your card details. We never see them. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe, and your card number never touches our systems. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, along with the last four digits and card type that Stripe shows us.
If you email us. Whatever you choose to put in the email, kept so we have a record of the conversation and can pick up where we left off.
We don't ask for anything we don't need, and we don't build profiles of people. There is no automated decision making and no profiling anywhere in what we do.
Cookies, and why there's no banner
This website sets no cookies. It uses no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking of any kind, so there is nothing to ask your permission for and nothing for you to click away. That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight.
The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google and Google will see your IP address as part of that. No cookie is set. If that matters to you, most browsers and privacy extensions can block it.
If we ever add analytics, we'll ask first and this page will change before we do.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data and we don't share it for anyone else's marketing. We use a small number of well known suppliers to run the business, and they only ever process your data on our instructions.
- Stripe: takes payments and manages subscriptions.
- MailerLite: sends our emails and holds our mailing list.
- Zoho Mail: our email inbox, so anything you email us sits there.
- Netlify: hosts this website and stores your personalised kit files so your download link works.
We may also share information where we're legally required to, for example with HMRC or if a court orders it. That's the whole list.
Some of these suppliers are based outside the UK, or store data outside it. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you, after which we keep only the minimum needed to make sure we don't email you again by mistake.
- Customer and payment records: six years after the end of the relevant accounting year, because HMRC requires it.
- Emails: normally no more than three years, unless the conversation forms part of a customer record.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or send it to you or someone else in a portable format. You can object to us using it, and where we rely on your consent you can withdraw that consent at any time.
To use any of these, email hello@sideranorth.co.uk. We'll reply within one month, and there's no charge. We may need to check who you are first, which usually means replying from the address we already hold.
Bear in mind that if you ask us to delete everything while you still have a live subscription, we won't be able to keep delivering the kit, and we'll have to keep the payment records HMRC requires either way.
Keeping it safe
Your data sits with established suppliers rather than on a laptop somewhere. Accounts are protected with strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication where it's offered. Your kit files are stored behind a link unique to your business, and that link stops working when a subscription ends.
No system is perfect. If something ever went wrong in a way that put your data at risk, we'd tell you, and we'd tell the Information Commissioner's Office where the law requires it.
If you're not happy
Tell us first, at hello@sideranorth.co.uk, and we'll do our best to sort it out. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. You don't have to come to us first, but it's usually quicker.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal data we'll update this page and change the date below. Anything significant and we'll tell people on our list directly rather than quietly editing the page.
Questions about any of this? Just email us: hello@sideranorth.co.uk. A human will reply.
